Ritals
As a roleplay based loosely off Native American tribes, we follow similar transitional commemorations that some of those tribes have been known to follow. Every cat born into the tribe will have at least two of these rituals. Here is a list that explains each one:
Training ritual - kit to gatherer
*The training ritual begins when a kit turns six moons, and is ready for their transition into a gatherer. It begins at sundown with the traditional exchange of words, where every single tribe member speaks to the kit and wishes them luck as a gatherer. Afterwards, the kit is dressed in a coat of berry juice, dying their fur with patterns similar to what you may think of Native American tribes. Then, following quick words of praise from the chief, the kit adds their paw mark to the cave wall, solidifying them as a full member of the tribe, and connecting them spiritually to that particular mark.
Verdict ritual - gatherer to desired rank (warrior, healer, hunter)
*This ritual begins around the time of twelve moons, when a gatherer has chosen their forever rank. It begins at around midday, when the gatherer will be forced to demonstrate how far their power has come in front of the entire tribe (or if they don't have a power, simply state that it never showed up). After this display, they reveal to the tribe which rank they have chosen, and the current members of that rank will share tongues with that cat until sundown.
Homage ritual - normal rank (warrior, healer, hunter) to warchief
*While the tribe still is in remorse for the deceased chief, it is important that the new one must determine a warchief to replace them. Unlike other rituals that normally take place in a lively atmosphere, homage is one done very somberly. During this ritual, the new chief gathers the tribe to reveal their decision as to who will one day be their successor. Once chosen, the warchief dresses in the same berry juice dye they did when they were a kit, and speaks words of condolence for the lost chief. It ends on that serious note, and the ritual closes. Afterwards, it is tradition for the warchief to go on a day long (24 hours) fasting that further grafts their loyalty and devotion to the tribe.
Cardinal ritual - normal rank (warrior, healer, hunter) to elder
*This ritual is the greatest honor a cat in the tribe can receive. It signifies many prosperous years well spent on serving their tribe, and celebrates the cat's accomplishes throughout each one. During this ritual, the tribe gathers and shares tongues, retelling the accomplishes that they can remember. Afterwards, the elder cat touches noses with the chief and affirms their everlasting loyalty to them, even after they pbooty.
